Guide to Watching Arabians:

The athleticism and diversity of the Arabian breed will be shown through a variety of classes. Breeding In-Hand/Halter classes portray these amazing horses as desirable breeding stock, judging their conformation and shape. Intelligence and grace are exhibited through elegant western horses and mannerly country horses. Hunter horses show off the athleticism  of a well-trained mount, moving comfortable along at a pace meant for hunting or jumping. Then, travel through time, where Arabian horses roamed the desert and began their journey as ancestors of modern day light breeds. The Arabian Mounted Native Costume class takes an audience back through time, showing the magic and romance of the Arabian horse as a brave warrior and kind family-friend.

About the Arabian Horse and Aljassimya Farm:

The Arabian horse has one of the longest histories of any domesticated breed, so long that his true origins remain obscure. In Bedouin legend the horse was brought to life by Allah from a handful of the South Wind and man was destined to follow him wherever he went. Two thousand years of selection by the Bedouin tribes of the Arabian Peninsula, added to the natural constraints of one of the harshest environments in the world eventually wrought the unique features of this distinctive horse.

The most expressive of all horses, they can appear dramatically fiery at one moment and yet a moment later be as mild and biddable as a lamb. This flamboyance combined with sensitivity, allied to the great refinement evolved in desert conditions, has made the Arabian one of the most spellbinding of domesticated creatures. The Arabian is known primarily for his versatility, his endurance and his beauty.

For Sheikh Jassim Bin Khalifa Al Thani of Aljassimya Farm, Doha, Qatar the role of breeding the finest Arabian horses is an important one, preserving centuries of tradition and excellence. The Aljassimya Farm breeding program comes under the management of 100 Oaks Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, California: a region of such Arabian breeding fame for over fifty years that it has become known as the Valley of the Arabian Horse. Sheikh Jassim appreciates the benefits of technical expertise developed in the USA and is proud that his from his first U.S. born crop came the 2014 Paris World Champion Yearling Colt Ghazwan Aljassimya.

Sheikh Jassim finds breeding satisfying not just in the personal sphere but as an ambassador taking the magic of the breed to new audiences. Aljassimya Farm is a sponsor for both high end and Amateur entry level competition, here in the U.S. and in Europe, but the opportunity for Aljassimya Farm to become a partner in the Rolex Central Park Horse Show and present the U.S. Open Arabians, was the most exciting yet. To this end, Aljassimya Farm will also be presenting the ethereal 2011 World and U.S. National Champion Mare CR Jasmeenah here in New York, the first time she will be seen in public since 2012.
